The first load was 6m3 and was for the lounge floor .

After laying the first 6m3 we were not looking forward to the next delivery 3 days later in fact we all ached all over

The second delivery of 6m3 was laid with ease as it was two smaller rooms we had less distance to spread it with the rakes.
All complete time to relax whilst it dries.

Of course there is always something to do so whilst the concrete was hardening we set to work extending the shed to enable the mower to be stored inside and the second part for a log store.

Once the concrete was set we started to rebuild the kitchen door way which had been removed to allow the mini digger in to lower the floor.

The finished doorway and then the arrival of our oak beam for supporting the above lounge floor, 250mm x 250mm by 6.6 meters long weighing in at 586 Kilograms

Brings a new meaning to falling off the back of a lorry!

The wall was knocked out next to the existing upright beam and scaffolding was erected to carry the beam into position with rollers positioned on top.

We had pre warned our neighbour Micheal Rossignol that a beam was on its way and would need a hand his precise and skillful driving allowed smooth entry into the barn.

The above operation took 20 minutes from Michel's arrival to departure. Putting the upright in took a little longer to ensure we maximised the headroom on the ground floor and the space upstairs. Marc our "CHEF" who has help us through out the building work relieves his tension with a little jig to celebrate this event which took weeks of planning and discussion and 20 minutes to complete.
